More Than a School. A Place to Discover Your Purpose.

Helping students grow academically, spiritually, and personally since 2005.
At Barnes Academy, we believe every student was created by God with a unique purpose and the potential to make a difference.
Located in Hartwell, Georgia, Barnes Academy is a private Christian school where students are known, loved, encouraged, challenged, and given opportunities to discover who they are and who God has created them to become.
Created for Greatness. Called to Make a Difference.
Education at Barnes Academy is about more than grades, tests, and graduation.
We want students to leave our school knowing who they are, what they believe, what gifts God has placed inside of them, and how they can use those gifts to impact the world around them.
Our goal is to help students grow into confident young men and women who understand that their lives have purpose.
Every morning, we remind our students of something we want them to carry far beyond their years at Barnes Academy:
You were created for greatness. You are a world changer.

Every Student Has a Story
One of the things that makes Barnes Academy special is that we don’t believe every student has to follow the same path.
Some students will attend a four-year university.
Some will attend technical school.
Some will enter the workforce.
Some will become entrepreneurs.
Some will pursue athletics, music, the arts, or another passion.
Our responsibility is to help students discover the path that fits their gifts, passions, personality, and purpose.
Barnes Academy reports that 96% of its graduates go on to either technical school or a four-year college, while other graduates enter the workforce or pursue entrepreneurship.
But success isn’t simply about where a student goes after graduation.
It’s about helping them discover where they’re called to go.
Personal Guidance for Life After Graduation
At Barnes Academy, college and career preparation is personal.
As students enter their junior and senior years, we begin having intentional conversations about their future.
We ask questions like:
What do you love?
What are you passionate about?
If you could wake up and do something you love every day, what would it be?
From there, we help students explore careers, colleges, technical programs, scholarships, and opportunities that connect their interests with their future.
Students are encouraged to identify schools that fit their goals, visit campuses, explore degree programs, and determine where they believe they can thrive.
For us, it’s not simply about sending students to college.
It’s about helping them discover their next step.

Our Mission is to educate the whole student within a Christian context of spiritual, social, mental and physical development. As a ministry of God, we exist to help students cultivate a relationship with Him through Jesus Christ, to discover and encourage their gifts and to inspire each student to realize his or her full potential in serving God in spirit and in truth
Some lessons are best learned by experiencing them.
Barnes Academy gives students opportunities to travel, explore new places, experience different cultures, and connect what they learn in the classroom with the real world.
Our students have traveled throughout Georgia and to destinations including Washington, D.C., Kentucky, Pennsylvania, North Carolina, Alabama, the Grand Canyon, and more.
From educational destinations and cultural experiences to restaurants, museums, performances, and national landmarks, these trips expose students to opportunities they may not otherwise experience.
We want our students to see more, experience more, and dream bigger.

We believe that each child is unique, and we are dedicated to encourage each student to achieve his/her full potential. Our approach to teaching is varied and challenging to the children to question, investigate, and search for solutions to draw conclusions. Barnes Academy offers a balanced curriculum that develops the social, intellectual, physical, spiritual, and emotional needs of each child. We are committed to the total development of each student. We strive to meet academic, social and spiritual needs. Partnering with parents, we will do all we can to contribute to the enlightenment, health and wholeness of every child. We seek to promote Christian values in academics and extracurricular activates. By incorporating Christian principles in our curriculum, we seek to teach the students that Christ is essential in all meaningful learning and relevant for daily living. We view education as a foundation for lifelong learning. Our curriculum is designed to prepare our students for entrance into college. We provide a quality education in a Christian environment to help our students cope successfully with the challenges of our modern-day society as well as the challenges of higher education.
Our purpose is to build up, to encourage, and to equip each student to become educated Christian leaders, both in present living and in future vocations. The Barnes Academy promotes high academic and moral standards where creativity is valued, positive faith is practiced, positive attitudes developed and where Christian values are nurtured. It is also a school where every teacher, staff member, volunteer, and student practices positive Christian morals. Barnes Academy is a school where love abounds, self-esteem is nurtured, grace is found, and where Jesus Christ is honored as Lord and Savior.
